THE WRITTEN RECORD

Publications help us follow the story of the 1978 Bounty through the words, photographs and records created during her life.

From early reports of her construction at Whangārei to accounts of her voyages, film appearances and changing roles around the world, these sources preserve the people, events and decisions that shaped her history.  Each publication offers a different perspective. Together, they help us connect the story of how Bounty began with the people who built and sailed her, the construction of the vessel itself, and the journeys that followed.  Publication details, dates, page references and source information are recorded wherever verified. Where details remain uncertain, the gaps are identified so the evidence can continue to grow.

Every publication is a doorway into another part of Bounty’s story.

The archive grows as new sources are found and verified.
